A United States Coast Guard Veteran turned Chicago Public School Fine Arts Teacher, Ryan Durling completed a Bachelor of Secondary Education with a concentration in Visual arts at DePaul University. An artist since his youth, Ryan Durling has created work ranging from digital images to paintings and sculptures to fine furniture. Durling has expanded his own artistic skills while having the privilege of teaching graphic and digital art to some of Chicago’s brightest high school students. It is through his teaching practice, that Durling’s understanding of what digital art is and what digital art can be has evolved into an artistic practice. While creating lesson plans, assignments and developing student’s skills, Durling has created a collection of digital works that embodies solid graphics with traditional artistic concepts and elements. It is through this combination that Durling pushes the viewer to question the process in which his work is created and allows the viewer to experience digital fine art.
